This is not corporal punishment, this is abuse. How on Earth in this day and age can it still be legal in as many as 19 US states to be able to hit naughty children using a paddle? The minute that you use an object to hit somebody with, corporal punishment becomes abuse. I don't have a problem with corporal punishment being used in schools. In my opinion all teachers in all states and countries of the world should still have the option to be able to punish their students using corporal punishment if students ignore repeated warnings to stop misbehaving, or if they continually disobey their teacher's commands and won't do what they're told to do when told to do it. These are the only reasons why corporal punishment should be given to children. There are no other reasons why children need to be given corporal punishment. It shouldn't be given if a student fights with another student unless that student has been repeatedly warned not to fight with other students. And the only correct way that teachers should be allowed to give corporal punishment to their students is to give them one moderate smack using the open palm of their hand on a clothed bottom in a manner that won't cause the student physical pain. Two smacks in some cases may be acceptable, but anything more than that would be repeated hitting. You cannot hit a child repeatedly without causing or intending to cause physical pain. Once corporal punishment causes physical pain to a child, it is classed as a form of abuse. That's why all other forms of corporal punishment should never be used on children. These would include smacking on the bare skin, smacking repeatedly in anger, smacking any other part of the body other than on the bottom, and smacking using an object of any kind. Paddling should definitely be banned in all states that still allow it.
