life is short

I just had this surgery today, and the pain from the incision literally doesn't compare to the last hellacious 3 weeks of my life. My doctor saw me and immediately sent me to the hospital for a CT, and by 11am today I was in surgery. Hopefully the dressing change tomorrow won't be bad.

Been five years

I think that being a celebrity, especially one that's been a favorite, often comes with the public having a certain sense of that celeb belonging to them or that the fans really know them. Almost a sense of ownership in the same way that my favorite book is my book. I didn't write it but I own a copy and the characters within, live in my imagination and I KNOW them. It's because they essentially come into people's homes thru movies, shows and interviews, in a lot of cases they grow up on screen and all successful actors, reality tv stars etc. are successful because they connected with their viewers and fans. So people see so much of them and yet only see a part of them, their lives and images carefully curated to keep them successful. When this happens, people feel like they are 'owed'. This is where that weird ownership comes in. They feel like they're owed access to even the private portions of a public figure's life. It's not really fair but they kind of know this when they sign up. If they are straight, bi, gay or exclusive, open or swapping partners, it should not be the business of millions of people that only THINK that they know them. Unless they want it to be. So until there's rock solid evidence that they're doing something that is harmful or exploitive to vulnerable people or those at a disadvantage, (such as abuse of a intimate nature against minors, the disabled, pets etc, abuse by coercion or abuse of people by weaponizing status, wealth or public influence) then really it's none of the public's business, until they make it so. By having some of these discussions on a public platform, while not addressing everything, it seems like it just gets messier. They give the excuse of protecting reputations but if they were so worried about that, they wouldn't have responded to ANY rumors or allegations. We know they are capable of doing that because in the past, they've done exactly that. I also think that Red table talks that drag private issues public was a mistake. That sense of the public being owed answers was made worse by making their marriage and private issues within it an acceptable topic of public discussion. I mean if you're already a target, you don't need to paint a bullseye on yourself letting the world know where to aim.
