Ethical and feminist are not synonymous. I have wondered for years if there's anywhere to find porn that is actually ethical, but it doesn't really seem to exist. Feminist porn is about the gentler tone, or more kind sex, or more sensual, or more about story, etc... That's nice but isn't about ethics - it's just a different style, albeit a softer one - but lots of women like rough porn and that isn't anti-feminist if that's what they enjoy. But for porn to actually be ethical it would have to be that nobody in it is there because they are under some form of coersion. Obviously the people in it can't be kidnapped or threatened or forced as part of the massive sex slave trade in the world, which is insane beyond belief that it exists... but less obviously and also importantly the people also can't be doing the pictures/films because they are an addict, or need the money, or have been duped into it, or had the pictures taken or shared without their full consent, or in any other way pressured or taken advantage of. They'd need to be there consciously understanding what's going to happen with these pictures or videos, and choosing to be sharing this private part of their life happily, and genuinely doing it simply because they want to be, not because they feel they have to in some way. Everyone involved would need to also be genuinely treated with respect. Lots of people wouldn't agree but I would also argue that they'd need to be single or at least have a partner who is fully aware of what they're choosing to do and is honestly comfortable with it if they're doing anything other than solo, because otherwise people are getting off watching someone cheat on their partner, no matter how one might want to spin it or rationalise, and that can't be ethical. And one of the most difficult things is how do you produce said ethical porn without it indirectly just adding to the worldwide porn addiction that fuels the sex slave trade? Is anything being done in a real way in the making of this hypothetical ethical porn to actively stand against the monetisation of human beings and their sexuality?
