As a Catholic mother, I expect the staff at a Catholic school to uphold the tenets of our faith. If you’re not Catholic then maybe don’t send your children to a Catholic school. By entering into a same sex marriage, this woman vowed to live in sin... forever. This is not bigotry against gays. I can’t speak for the Pope to explain what he meant by his comments. I speculate however that he means we are to love all God’s children. This does not mean we love every decision they make. The decision to live in sin is a sad one as how can you truly repent of your sin when you have promised to commit to it every day of your life? What of your salvation? This choice is not a reflection of Jesus’ love for us. As for the comments regarding molesting kids as OK in our Church, no these acts are also unacceptable. It’s horrible that children were harmed by the very people who should have been protecting them. I won’t abandon my faith in Christ’s Church because of the sins of those individuals however. If you don’t believe then I pray for you. If you do believe, then you should pray every day.
