Brilliant as always! One study I haven’t seen yet is how many of us are primarily aroused by aural sensations or at least augmented arousal through the stimulus of sound. I remember often feeling like something must be wrong with me years ago because most people seem to be visually stimulated or even the memory of visual imagery, which is a powerful stimulus even for me, but I’m more stimulated by sound. I remember thinking my friends were nuts for wanting more visual stimulus from their porn and less conversation or dialogue. For me, the power of the dialogue served as a terrific stimulus accompanying foreplay or even during intercourse, that somehow always intensified the experience and even became more important with age. The sounds of my partners pleasure or even, for lack of a better term, “dirty talk” which is a terrible term in my opinion. I personally think we need to grow up and avoid terminology that shames any part of any normal, safe and consensual sexual experience. But there’s still a stigma placed on “sexting”, “phone sex”, “cam-ming” or just plain sex talk.
