I'm avoidant, and my best friend is anxious. Weirdly, our friendship and different attachment styles has helped the two of us get closer to being secure. I know she needs signals of affection, so I go out of my way every now and then to do things that I normally wouldn't do in order to make sure she knows I care. Every time I do something like that it gets easier. And equally, she's grown to understand that time and space doesn't mean I don't love her, it's just that I'm overwhelmed and I need breathing room. It's a great case of opposites being good for one another, I think.

I think what Carter was talking about is not victim blaming but about how useful it is to have a list of red flags and deal breakers, especially for new girls in the industry who might not know to watch out for that shit. Like the situation she was talking about at the beginning--if you walk into a house and you see girls sleeping on mattresses on the floor, that's a RED FLAG. Get out. Just like going on dates. Red flags and warning signs are important and useful.

Just from my own experiences, men want to feel just as loved, experience excitement, and receive attention just as much as women do. Complementing my partner definitely has increased his confidence despite his lack of experience. It has even given him more confidence in his performance. The way I see it is that even if he is inexperienced or unsure, that “embarrassing” or “turn off” teaching moment that people are referring to can very well just be looked at as another experience to try something new. Maybe not new for you but new for your partner and them learning or experiencing it for the first time can be so much fun for both of you because you want them to be happy too.

After that she became incredibly active in the few trans and lesbian spaces that existed at the time. She started a meeting place for trans people called Transvestia and was an important organiser at lesbian protests. She even was a co-founder of one of Sweden's first lesbian organisations. An organisation she was later excluded from because she was trans, in spite of the protest from people who had been there from the start. She died a couple of years ago. She never got to medically transition.
