I worked in a prison for many years until I retired and I can tell you we did a sex offenders groups for inmates on the yard, and in fact, IF they wanted to ever be released they HAD to come and show the parole board that they had attended the groups and completed them. They also had to ADMIT to the parole board exactly what they had done. They had to tell the story from beginning to the end and had to accept responsibility, which most do not want to do. If they did not, then they would not be released as it showed that they were in denial. A lot of inmates also refused to come as they didn’t consider themselves like some of the others. They also did not want to be known as attending a group like that, and inmates are very astute in knowing what groups are going on in the prison yard. Some inmates thought they were better and they did NOT want to accept what they had done. It seems they wanted to minimize their part in it. I do NOT believe they can be rehabilitated after working with them over 20+ years. They are opportunist and given the chance to reoffend they will, especially if they do not think they will be caught. I despise them for what they do and how they have wrecked lives with their behavior. I am a female in an all male group of maybe 40 or more guys and it was very interesting. The ones that bothered me most were when they tried to make excuses for WHY it happened. I was drinking, I was on drugs, the little girl came over and sat on my lap and touched me or I don’t remember how or why it happened. A lot of excuses. They know, but want to remove themselves from this ugly scene. These men should NEVER be let out. You cannot rehabilitate them. She tried to say over and over it’s a mental illness. She can call it what she wants, but QUIT making excuses after excuses of why her father did what he did. I personally do NOT think she did a good job on this as she made far too many excuses and the victims don’t just suffer when the incident happened. It’s a life long struggle for many. I would not buy her book as it was to one sided for the pedophiles and the sickness. Castration is NOT going to stop it. It’s in their nasty minds. Castration won’t fix the
