Men do let themselves go (not only in middle age) and seem to have more passion and loyalty to football teams than any partner. I am aware that I need to get fitter physically and sort a few things out. But I don't know how to connect with a woman on a deeper level at all anymore. It's not only a fear of being a disappointment but it's also not wanting to be hurt/humiliated/stabbed in the back. Some women around my age appear to be mellow and ok within themselves, others carry an almost palpable incandescent rage, bitterness, anger and sour hatred of men. And how can you defuse that?
