The thing about Tumblr that I liked (i like a lot of things, but I'm gonna be talking about this one thing), was that no one got annoyed by repeating things or just a wave of one thing happening. Like, if I went on facebook, or twitter, and made fifty posts in a row about a movie or tv show that I liked, people would get annoyed. Most likely I'd be told to stop, and that it's annoying. (Fun Fact: In Middle School I liked so many Harry Potter pages that people told me in real life to stop liking them because it showed up on their wall) On tumblr, you were allowed to be obsessed with things, and talk about them non-stop. No one was gonna say, Hey, stop posting about Naruto, it's annoying!. The worst I ever got was being told to tag spoilers for a certain movie or show, but that was about it.

I remember when I was a kid and went to the Forbidden Palace museum with my family, my mom complained that the Guomingdang stole all the good stuff from the Palace and took them to Taiwan, so that the displays currently in the museum were super lame. I think videos like these are tricky. My guess would be that it’s because he didn’t outgrow it that would make ir considered atypical. I think parents have good intentions when they post these things but it also is very tough because handflapping to ANY degree at this age (Until the age of 2-3, per experts) is normal. No trained clinician would use this to diagnose a child at any age. ASD cannot be reliably diagnosed until 18 months. I know he did get a diagnosis but I just want to throw out there, as a mother and a person trained in diagnosing ASD, not to be concerned to all of the parents on here seeking to understand hand flapping. Plus, one thing such as hand flapping is not enough. Lastly, hey, if it does turn out to be ASD, your kiddo will be okay. Autistic individuals lead amazing lives. ❤️
