With respect As a Somali women I Absolutely get the point that was being made, however this consistent false narrative of horn Africans being mixed is simply not accurate yes a minority maybe but that does not account for our features, our noses our hair our skin complexions and so one. And even within us somalis there is a wide range of features and hair textures There is a wide range of black features with in Africa, so to say we Somalis look a certain way and crediting our appearance to mixing is a false narrative and belittling because if anyone is mixed AA are more mixed then horn Africans. I do agree with the point of putting us on a pedestal due to the Eurocentricness of our features which in it self is self hatred but that in it self is inaccurate our features are from AFRICA and to say horn Africans are beautiful because of the close resemblance to Eurocentric standards of beauty is flawed as having certain features aren’t thanks to the white man but rather the diversity of Africa and I agree if we are going to praise beautiful black women we should have a diversity of ALLL black women. But to say us Somalis are any less black due to difference in features is belittling and patronising and all it achieves is further divisions on whose really black and who isn’t. All features and hair textures are beautiful. And Somalis are not any less black or African than AA are.

I bought a house in Federal Way in '98 and it was amazing. Over 20 years, I watched it turn into a cesspool. A year before Covid, I moved to Milton and it's like living in Maybury! Kids can leave their bikes on the lawn, people walking their dog wave as you drive by, a basketball game in the cul-de-sac, no package theifs.
