If swinging offers the opportunity for some to avoid concerns with jealousy or even the possibility of learning and/or fulfilling interests, why not. It wasn't all that long ago that sexual contact between a couple was only to occur for the express purpose of having children. It is, unfortunately, the ideas ingrained into humans through religion that has perpetuated the idea that a married couple must live a certain way. Though those same condemning individuals are some of the same ones who have participated in unspeakable actions against children, the hypocrisy is astounding. What makes swinging dark and seedy are often individuals who don't understand and are unwilling to compromise on the parameters of their own ideas who then project those ideas and priorities onto others. It's guaranteed that many men and women are in what they believe to be monogamous relationships but their partners are not. The one reaction that each person interviewed volunteered was swinging was a choice, it offered the opportunity to say no but it also strikes as requiring honesty that many relationships never experience. Many couples could never admit having an interest for someone else but swinging offers the opportunity to discuss it with their partner and potentially follow through with it, and no do it again if it's not enjoyable. Loving one's partner shouldn't be an idea of owning each other, and love is not something that should be defined by physical reactions. Though it's not something I have any interest in I can certainly appreciate it as a choice. Anyone who might denigrate swinging clearly has a very narrow idea of relationships and sexuality.
