When I explain why I think Kyle may like Cartman,this is obviously debatable and I'm not certain. However I can say that Cartman and Kyle have a weird sort of codependency. When Cartman and Heidi date, Kyle has issues with them before the abuse in the relationship begins. This could be shock, but remember the scene when all the boys girlfriends leave them, and Kyle cries over Cartman on a swing set? This implies that Kyle has some sort of feelings towards Cartman. Also, it's noticeable that Cartman and Kyle get into the middle of each others relationships a lot.Kyle didn't even consider liking Heidi before he was told he must-an inconsistency regarding his other relationships as he is often shown knowing exactly when he likes a girl. I think he was possibly confused with his feelings towards Cartman and decided that liking Heidi was what he must be feeling. Kyle often feels directly responsible for Cartman, often apologising for him and getting into his business. They are very similar characters- two extremes at opposite ends. They have different goals and morals. For example, they are both money driven, it's just more obvious on Cartman's part. There have been several times where Kyle has done something simply for money, and it's times like these where him and Cartman get along best. Kyle is holier than thou and uppity( he's still a good person, let's not forget) and he likes to be the hero who fixes things. This is why he feels responsible for Cartman. Kyle is shown helping Cartman in episodes like Jewpacabra because due to his overall uppitiness and similarity to Cartman he can sympathize with him more. I've heard Kyle described as the kind of person who tips a waiter, takes the tip out of the box if they aren't looking, then puts it's back in when they are.
