A fair comparison, there are a number of nightlife areas in Phnom Penh not just the one street though, it just means jumping on a tuk tuk for a dollar or so to get to some of them, 136, 104, 51 etc, while not at the level of Pattaya/Jomtien which I prefer, it is still a good place to party. As for costs the condo rentals in Cambodia while not ridiculously expensive are on average a hundred dollars a month more than for an equivalent condo in Thailand and much more choice in Pattaya. There is nothing to compare with the food court in terminal 21 in Pattaya, as far as food options go, though Cambodia is still cheap and especially the beers which are much cheaper than in Thailand. The only big plus for Cambodia is the easy visa options you have there which if things stay as they are may sway me to Phnom Penh when I go to SE Asia to live next year as I have had word from some contacts in Thailand that some of the immigration offices in Thailand have been refusing to allow you to combine your pension and cash and have been saying they must have 800,000 baht or 65,000 baht a month pension, and with the pound sterling being down at present I am just below the 65,000 which could give me a problem.If they persist with these inconsistences I may have to reconsider my original plan to retire to Jomtien which would be sad as I love the area it has the fishing lakes nearby which I enjoy the fantastic Terminal 21, the nightlife street food and friends I know .
