The funny thing is, I do think that BG3 needs a better save system. It is very inconsistent on when and how it saves (unless it is purely time based). Most modern games will auto save after key dialogues or mission completion. BG3 does not and I just have to get used to that. One thing about the save system that I do like, although many may not, is that the quick saves do NOT overwrite one another. So you don't have to worry that you will lose a fallback point if you quick save multiple times rather than full save
