I have an Escort 360 Max Ci with the 4 head laser shifter setup. My car is a fairly large sedan and I was curious to see how the system worked with 2 heads up front and 2 heads rear. I was willing to forgo rear coverage so I moved all 4 heads up front went back a couple of weeks later and they tested me again. This time I had perfect front coverage against the legacy guns and pretty decent coverage against DE but there were enough PTs inside 700 feet that we weren't comfortable that I would be adequately protected against DE. Now for the interesting part--one of the incredibly knowledgeable gentlemen helping me with the test said lets try 3 heads up front as opposed to 4. In his experience he found that 3 heads often performed better than 4 heads. Sure enough I had 100% coverage against legacy guns and almost 100% coverage against DE with the 3 heads up front. By the way for all of the 3 and 4 head testing (a) all dip switches were set to front, (b) the 2 outer heads were set 24 apart in the upper grill about 1 1/2s below the edge of the hood, (c) the 3rd head was set in the center of the grill about about 6 below the edge of the hood, and (d) the car was tested from both sides of the road shooting at the LH, CM and RH and all testing was performed with the car traveling in excess of 30 mph (there is some confusion as to whether Escorts Laser shifters will shift at anything below 25-30 mph)--during our original testing it seemed like there was no shifting happening at all below 30mph. At the end of the day even though I have forgone rear coverage I feel pretty good with the results.
